Check out www.stliving.net and scroll to page 45 and guess what you’ll find: we got published! This has been a lifelong dream come true — one that I thought I’d locked away with “wanting to be a cowgirl” and “waking up with super powers.” Please take a look at “Decorating Tips for the Country Home” and know that I have the shakes over here because I couldn’t post links or pictures to thank everybody but just so you know — Jayedee and Tina, you all rock like KISS for eying one of my posts and making it happen. And to all of my wonderful friends: you make blogging fun. Why else would I continue to try and publish a post with all these technical difficulties? I love you guys. Thank you for making my dreams come true!

Channeling Barbara Gordon

Batgirl and Barbara GordonAs you may have guessed, there was a bit of a SNAFU with the site. Nothing that my trusty computer experts, Carl and Kemble of Zowbie Consulting, couldn’t handle though. In the meantime, I whined. I complained. And I got rabies shots.

Yes, I did. And yes, it hurts. A lot. Everything you’ve heard is true.

By the way, whatever pain tolerance I claimed to have was a lie.

Very good friends of ours discovered a colony of bats living in their attic. Wildlife experts came in to assess the situation and worked to relocate the bats by closing vents and attaching an extractor to the one vent left open. About 85% of the colony mosied on out to find new digs. The others were not so healthy and made their way down into the living quarters of the house. This was bad, bad, bad. Bad bats. Disoriented and sickly bats began swimming through the air throughout the house. My friends called and I advised them to pack their bags and come to my house. This proved to be a difficult task — organizing four individuals to pack and vacate with bats flying around their heads like Addam’s Family mobiles. So, I came over to help. This was not my brightest hour. On the way up the steps of their home, one or two bats knocked into me. I was officially exposed to rabies. As were they. Beaucoup shots later, we are all weak and sore but rabies free with still more shots to go. Shake the hand of an E.R. nurse/doctor today because they put up with a lot. Lately: me.

As for my dreams of superpowers… I am now Georgia’s own Batgirl. I leave you with one of the little devils. Payback’s a bat.
