Give Me The Simple Life
I’m just loving me some classic movies, let me tell you. Can’t get enough of them! Movies like Grapes of Wrath, It’s a Wonderful LIfe, I’ll Be Seeing You, The Little Princess, Holiday Inn, and so many more. The best part? They are slow moving so I can knit (which involves some counting) while I watch them and not miss a thing. Of course, I’ve seem them all so many times that I could probably quote them word-for-word with my eyes closed.
In so many of the movies made between 1940-1965, the theme is simple living. Now they may not make a point of saying so (unlike the clip from Wake Up and Dream) but the message is clear: focus on the family, appreciate what you have, be kind and accepting to those around you, be hard working and have good values.
Oh, I could just loll about in those Technicolor dreamlands! While living in Washington state, I enjoyed checking the classics out of the library. The movies certainly helped to pass long gray rainy days while Josh was deployed.
What are your favorites? Which classics best represent the life you want or the life you have?
