Giddy Goat

Our buck has a thing for undressing people.  Okay, maybe undressing us is not the goal… but he’s completely utterly driven to distraction by clothing.  Perhaps he thinks it’s odd that the two-legged goats in his life bother to get dressed at all.  Case in point:

I’ve tried patiently explaining that tugging on my belt doesn’t accomplish a thing. I’ve tried pleading for the sake of my belts (which are all peppered with tooth marks). Thank goodness that goats only have teeth on their lower jaw.

These photos do not do him justice. Our buck is really pulling — in fact, he eventually broke my belt altogether.  He also chews on t-shirts, shorts, shoelaces, pockets, and belt loops.  What a guy!

Do note the view of one of my pregnant does (Apple) in these photos.  These were taken a few days before she gave birth.  See how her back looks?  Just above her tail (which you can’t see because of our buck), it looked very similar and was very spongy when touched.  When a pregnant doe has all of those signs… then you know she is going to give birth soon.

Not that any of that has anything to do with my silly buck and his appetite for clothing.

Just thought you’d want to know.

Awww. I once had a kid try to eat my shoe. Since he was tiny i picked him up and moved him away from said faux birkenstock sandal. The little bugger turned around and headbutted my shin! i love goats :)

Interesting left horn he has there, is that normal or did something happen to it?

Do you have to be careful he doesn’t get ahold of skin? Seems like a real possibility…

Our buck has since had the scur (that odd horn growth you see in the picture) removed by our wonderful vet. There is no fool-proof way to prevent parts of the horn from growing back.
