Wascally Wescue Wabbit

Winchester Wabbit, a mini Rex

We rescued a rabbit that we cannot eat. diving iphone 8 plus case It serves no purpose on this green earth other than to amuse me and produce poo. What greater purpose could one possibly have, really?

Winchester Wabbitt

We were standing in the checkout line of our local pet shop (the only one in our area which sells quality saltwater products for Josh’s reef tank) chatting about the poor “Easter rabbits” who are purchased and then loved until the cage is stinky or their nails need to be trimmed. At that point, the thrill is gone. iphone 8 case for men Then they are posted in the nickel ads or given back to the pet store.

And that is exactly how the darling mini-Rex above found her way into the poorly lit back room of the pet shop to be sold to a local snake owner for a reptilian snack. moncler jacket soldes Not just any snake… chaussures puma a ginormous man-eating, rabbit munching monster (NOTE: I fully realize that these snakes are not monsters. chaussure timberland homme Please, no hate mail.) Apparently, rabbits are the preferred food for the massive snakes because they do not claw up the snake or attempt to fight them off like a rat.

With this knowledge, Josh pulled out his wallet. “Will you be paying for it or shall I?” He stated. This was a no-discussion-needed decision. nike flyknit lunar We would be rescuing the rabbit and that was all there was to it. timberland pas cher iphone 8 case dustproof Our people don’t walk away from rabbits who are about to be thrown into a cage with an enormous snake which comes from a jungle and lives in trees or swamps (Would it really eat rabbits in the wild? Somehow, I think not.)

Now, before you start feeling sorry for the snake — take a good look at that rabbit’s fur. ugg pas cher femme It’s the softest stuff you have ever felt in all your born days. chaussures puma 2018 pas cher iphone 6 marble phone case rose gold Think: chinchilla. iphone 7 plus vintage case Only softer. nike air max bw Admit it — you’d have done the exact same thing.

  • Margo - Even though I’m allergic to rabbits I probably would have done the same thing cause that bunny is too cute 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Julie at Elisharose - Better you than me, but I’m glad it was you and not a snake. Poor sweet bunny. He does look soft. He couldn’t have landed in a better place.ReplyCancel

  • Laura-Jane - So cute and touchable!ReplyCancel

  • Rosa - He looks really cute! A lucky rabbit ;-P!

    Cheers,

    RosaReplyCancel

  • Amanda - did you really say plans for the poo, now you tell me when fluffy is gone!!!!ReplyCancel

  • Sophie - Wow, that rabbit looks lovely!! Just beautiful!!ReplyCancel

  • nfmgirl - The real pity here is that this was a rabbit that was a pet. It is one thing to raise rabbits as food and provide them to a snake. It is another to have a loving pet that is discarded as snake bait. It’s a tragedy. Like the black panther that I saw in a video. Raised as a caged pet and declawed, when it was no longer wanted it was sold for a canned hunt. I watched it, terrified, cowering, forced out of its cage and into the waiting mouths of hunting dogs who nearly ripped it apart alive before the “hunter” finally shot it. Despicable. “Beloved pets” discarded as property no longer wanted. (Sorry to be a “Debbie Downer”!)

Lucky wabbit. Good job taking her in. She’s a real beauty!ReplyCancel

  • Michele - I would have done the exact same thing. Rabbit poop = great compost.ReplyCancel

  • CrossView - We love our totally useless but completely adorable bunny, too. And that poo is good for compost and fertilizer….

That cage looks similar to ours!ReplyCancel

  • Dee - You & Josh have such tender hearts & are very special folks. I love your new bunny rabbit, Winnie. She’s a lucky fur-babe.

My great niece has a solid white mini-rex named Kirby. She got him last fall. They’ve had him neutered. It’s amazing how tame those bunnies are and smart too, Kirby is litter box trained.

I know Winnie will have many happy times being a member of the razor-farm family. You’re farm seems such a loving place for all creatures…even snakes. Yep, I read the post on Josh & his poisonous critters… lol Goodness, you gotta love that boy for his bravery and compassion. Sweet!

Wishing you a week of warm snuggles and smiles!

  • Kath - Its an adorable bunny!!!ReplyCancel

  • Laura - That bunny will serve a greater purpose than you realize now. It’s wonderfully comforting to pick up a soft, warm, lovable “baby” and hold it until you feel better. She’s your new “therapy rabbit”ReplyCancel

  • Dianne - aaawww….I’m so glad you did that!ReplyCancel

  • HeatherJ - If a little fawn could morph into a bunny ~ that’s what Winnie would be. Good job rescuing a little beauty! We did the same thing with a little “Dumbo” rat (bigger ears on the side of his head) that was going to be snake food. He was such a darling and would sleep in my hand all curled up like a cartoon.

I still don’t get the whole snake/pet thing. My brother had pythons, my sister currently has corn snakes. We had everything shy of tarantulas and scorpions growing up, but I could never understand the snake fascination.ReplyCancel

  • The Holly Tree - Lacy, honey! It’s so great to see you! ♥ ♥ ♥

Thankyou for your loving words. It’s true that we all do and say things we don’t mean, but even so, there are times when that’s just not good enough. Sometimes, we screw up royally, and that’s what I did. Only time will tell, now, whether or not this situation can be repaired….

On your post, I’m really glad you saved that darling bunny. She really is beautiful, and I hope you all will enjoy each other’s company for years to come… ♥ ♥ ♥ReplyCancel

  • Paula - I love bunnies and would have done the same thing. Keep thinking a nice big lop-ear would be perfect hopping around in my backyard.ReplyCancel
