nfmgirl - The real pity here is that this was a rabbit that was a pet. It is one thing to raise rabbits as food and provide them to a snake. It is another to have a loving pet that is discarded as snake bait. It’s a tragedy. Like the black panther that I saw in a video. Raised as a caged pet and declawed, when it was no longer wanted it was sold for a canned hunt. I watched it, terrified, cowering, forced out of its cage and into the waiting mouths of hunting dogs who nearly ripped it apart alive before the “hunter” finally shot it. Despicable. “Beloved pets” discarded as property no longer wanted. (Sorry to be a “Debbie Downer”!)

My great niece has a solid white mini-rex named Kirby. She got him last fall. They’ve had him neutered. It’s amazing how tame those bunnies are and smart too, Kirby is litter box trained.
I know Winnie will have many happy times being a member of the razor-farm family. You’re farm seems such a loving place for all creatures…even snakes. Yep, I read the post on Josh & his poisonous critters… lol Goodness, you gotta love that boy for his bravery and compassion. Sweet!

HeatherJ - If a little fawn could morph into a bunny ~ that’s what Winnie would be. Good job rescuing a little beauty! We did the same thing with a little “Dumbo” rat (bigger ears on the side of his head) that was going to be snake food. He was such a darling and would sleep in my hand all curled up like a cartoon.
I still don’t get the whole snake/pet thing. My brother had pythons, my sister currently has corn snakes. We had everything shy of tarantulas and scorpions growing up, but I could never understand the snake fascination.

Thankyou for your loving words. It’s true that we all do and say things we don’t mean, but even so, there are times when that’s just not good enough. Sometimes, we screw up royally, and that’s what I did. Only time will tell, now, whether or not this situation can be repaired….
