Jeff loves Steen’s Cane Syrup, he puts it on everything he can think of, just about. I’m sure he’d like that cake, too.

Hey, nice new blog header. I like it.
I love Steen’s, but dang! Two cups of it? I’m already reeling from the sugar shock just thinking about it.
No worries! Substitutes abound!
Instead of the 2 cups of syrup you may use 1 cup applesauce and 1 cup sorghum
OR 1 cup applesauce and 1 cup cane syrup
OR (if you don’t have sorghum or cane syrup) 1 cup applesauce and 1 cup molasses
Have fun and enjoy an old fashioned skillet cake that will thrill your tastebuds and possibly become a fall classic. A seasonal must-have.
Lots of love,
Lacy
An interesting cake! It’s a pity I don’t own a skillet…
Cheers,
Rosa
I love anything I can cook in a skillet. For some reason, it just makes it seem homier! Besides cornbread, this looks like a keeper!
i am going to have to see if i can find cane syrup now. this sounds delicious!
Looks like my diet may be waiting one more little weekend. *grin* I love those Southern desserts…although I don’t believe I’ve ever had this one. hmmm….now where do I find cane syrup in the Pacific Northwest? Thanks for the recipe and the great blog, Lacy!
Blessings,
Dianne
looks SO good! I still need to pull out my skillet and use it sometime!
