Dippy Hippy Chewy Honey-Graham Granola Bars

Pull out your wool socks and Birkenstocks, ’cause we’re making our own granola bars! These soft bars will go easy on your fillings and hit the spot after a long day of gardening or biking or sitting around thinking about cleaning the house. Not that I ever spend my time overwhelmed by a long list of things to do. Nah.

You will need: 1/2 cup local honey, 5 cups granola, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup graham flour (or whole wheat), and 1/2 cup butter. And yes, that’s lotus bamboo rocking the kitchen window.

Heat the honey, sugar, and butter in a thick bottom pan on med-high heat while stirring with a whisk occasionally.

Mix those dry ingredients and use your hand, too. Why not?

That honey butter stuff should be boiling by now. Pour it over the granola and graham flour. Inhale.

Stir, but this time use a spoon. I burn myself in the kitchen constantly and sincerely wish to save you the trouble. Aren’t I thoughtful?

Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan and press the granola mixture into the bottom. Let cool. Slice into bars. Enjoy.

Chewy honey graham granola bars: you complete me. Maybe it’s the graham flour and honey… not sure. These babies are heaven. Who likes granola? This girl. **points to self**

I’ll have to try these. So far we haven’t found any kind of granola bar we like. I’ll let you know what we think. I want to get some of the gram flour. I have whole wheat, though.

YUM!!! My whole family loves granola, so I’m sure this will be a hit at home…
My husband always loves things that are homemade much more than store bought. So this will be right up his alley.

Those do look good. I’m glad you stressed the use of a spoon when stirring boiling sugar-and-butter-and-honey. I saw that pan of molten gooiness, gooier than a geoduck, and was worried.

The children and I will all be home all week next week as both of the daycamp programs are closed. That looks like it might be a fun recipe to make with the kids. Keeping in mind the dangers of molten honey, of course.
