This is all that remains of the Black Forest cake I made for Christmas. We had a great day with our friends: Heather, Connie, Fred, and Scott. Sure was nice to win that hockey game!

This cake was very delicious. We were fortunate enough to try some on Saturday night and I would venture to say it gets better with age.

It’s the kirsch (cherry brandy). *grins* It makes EVERYTHING better. Schwarzwälder Kirschtorte (literally “black forest cherry cake”) is now a Christmas-must in our house. I’m making swiss cheese fondue tonight and will add some kirsch to that, too.
Ahhh…. all my cooking secrets are revealed!
